American Corner (Amcor) State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo Semarang held a Health Webinar with the theme "Talking about Breast Cancer" in a blended manner at the ICT Library Center Building 4th Floor,

UIN Walisongo and broadcast via Zoom, Monday (17/10/2022).

This event was held in commemoration of World Breast Cancer which falls on October 17th.

There are 3 materials presented in this webinar.  First, regarding the introduction of breast cancer.  Second, the rules in the management of breast cancer. 

Third, the experience of breast cancer survivors. Surgeon specialist at Graha Kedoya Hospital, dr.  Anton Adrian, Sp.B, said in the zoom channel, it is hoped that young people will be aware of breast cancer as early as possible.

“Cancer is now a young trend.  So, we invite young people to be aware of breast cancer,” said dr.  Anton.

Then the next material was presented by dr.  Arif Winata, Sp.B (K) Onk, consultant surgeon oncology at Graha Kedoya Hospital, The reason for the delay in breast cancer

examinations is usually because they are afraid of surgery and having their breasts taken, even though not all tumors will be taken from their breasts.

"Cause of Delay (in speaking proper treatment): afraid of CBE, afraid of surgery, afraid of chemotherapy, afraid of radiation therapy, rumors in the community (surgery will make cancer more aggressive or metastasize faster),

the appeal of alternative medicine as  cancer cure without surgery, delay by doctors."  said dr. Arif.

The third material was delivered by Enok Irma Handiani as a breast cancer survivor.  She shared her personal experience when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She also experienced feelings of sadness and fear.

"I didn't expect to have breast cancer, because there is no hereditary factor. But Alhamdulilah, my family and husband still support me."  Enok concluded.
