Strengthening Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Sung Y. Kim Comes to the American Corner of UIN Walisongo Semarang



 

American Corner (Amcor) State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo Semarang held a Public Lecture event with the theme "The US Indonesia Strategic Partnership" offline at the 1st floor of American Corner of UIN Walisongo Building and broadcast via YouTube American Corner UIN Walisongo, Thursday (13/10/2022).

This event presented the United States Ambassador to Indonesia, Sung Y. Kim as a speaker.

Rector of UIN Walisongo, Imam Taufik said that with the discussion with Sung Y. Kim, it is hoped that UIN Walisongo can establish cooperation with America, one of which is through student exchange.

Amcor is a forum for student information about America. There are many journals and books that can be accessed by anyone. With this discussion, UIN Walisongo is expected to be able to establish cooperation with America, one of which is through student exchange," said Imam.

In the presentation of the material, Kim explained that there were 5 aspects that were built between the United States and Indonesia to maintain cooperation.

“There are five aspects that were built by us to maintain cooperation with Indonesia. First, maintaining partnerships in the economic field. So far, the United States and Indonesia have good economic relations. The economies of our country are closely related to each other, for example, soybeans are used as raw materials for making tempe and also coffees,” explained Kim.

The next aspect is maintaining partnerships in the field of resilience, building global cooperation, shared-values, and aspects of diversity.

“Next, is to maintain partnerships in the field of resilience. The United States has become the strongest defense partner in Indonesia. The third aspect is to build global cooperation. The fourth aspect is the values ​​of diversity, democracy, commitment and cooperation, tolerance, and respect for human rights. The fifth aspect is strengthening relations between citizens," he continued.

Kim said that there are many intermediaries who provide information related to America or study in America other than the American Corner.

“Besides American Corner, we also have educationUSA as a provider of information for all of you regarding America. There is also a program that connects us all, namely YSEALI," said Kim.

Kim hopes that the students of UIN Walisongo can take part in the YSEALI program so that they can develop talents, increase their potential, and increase relationships.

"I hope that all of you can join YSEALI in order to develop talents, increase potential, and increase relationships within each other," concluded Kim.
