Student Speak Out : A Discussion and Film Screening of Hamtramck, USA held by American Corner UIN Walisongo



 

SEMARANG - To see and learn how diversity lives in one of the cities in America with a mostly Muslim population, the American Corner of UIN Walisongo Semarang held a documentary film screening with the topic "Beyond Stereotypes Exploration Diversity and Democracy Hamtramck, USA offline at the AMCOR building of UIN Walisongo Semarang, Monday (25/03/2024). This event was attended by 50 participants consisting of UIN Walisongo students and AMCOR UIN Walisongo volunteers. At the beginning of the event, the MC opened the event and gave opening remarks. Then it was continued with a documentary film screening by the volunteers. After finishing watching the documentary film, the next session was the presentation of material by the speaker Safira Yuniar Kiranadewi as Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Alumni 2015/2016. The speaker explained about this film which tells about the exploration of multiculturalism in Hamtramck and also shared his experiences while living there. Next, a group discussion was held which divided students into several groups to discuss their opinions on the issues contained in the documentary film. “As individuals, We need to show our different as a muslim in USA to prove that we are equal”, Safira Yuniar Kiranadewi said.
