American Corner (Amcor) Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo held Launching of Create Poetry Contest at Amcor Building Campus 3, Tuesday (14/03/2023).

This activity aims to increase participants' creativity and critical thinking abilities. According to Eka Harisma, program coordinator for American Corner, “this activity started a series of activities from the poetry writing contest. The themes that must be used as a reference for writing poetry are diversity, inclusivity, equity, humanity, justice, and against discrimination.”

This activity was attended by 36 participants, namely students and several lecturers. This event was opened by the host who is an American Corner volunteer. Then it continues with an explanation of important dates related to the Call for Poetry. Eka Harisma explained that later, after all the poems were collected, they would be selected by the committee, then they would be checked for plagiarism, edited by the editing team and would be submitted to the publisher. The hope is that this work will become a poetry anthology collection managed by the American Corner UIN Walisongo.

In question and answer session, participants asked about the theme and how to collected the poetry. This event was very interesting.

At the end of the event, there was a group photo and a farewell speech represented by the MC. It is hoped that with this event, participants try to write about one of literary works, poetry, and it makes them think more around the situation.
