Interesting Discussion Regarding American and Indonesian Diplomatic Relations with a Seminar Entitled “Ask American Diplomat”



 

American Corner UIN Walisongo Semarang held a seminar entitled “Ask American Diplomat” to provide knowledge and important information about US-Indonesia relations. This seminar session was held offline at American Corner UIN Walisongo Semarang, Friday (20/10/2023).

 

This event was attended by UIN Walisongo students, UNNES English Literature students, AMCOR UIN Walisongo staff, volunteers, and lecturers.

 

Master of Ceremony (MC) opened the event and gave greetings.  Then the MC guided the discussion and gave the participants the opportunity to ask questions which in the next session would be answered by impressive speakers.

 

In this seminar, there were two speakers, namely Abraham Lee as Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer U.S. Embassy Jakarta and Marcy Carrel as The Regional Public Engagement Specialist (REPS) for Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Timor Leste, Based at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.

 

In the next session, both speakers answered all questions raised by the participants and explained the working relationship between Indonesia and America which has been going well for a long time.

 

“Through this discussion, it is hoped that the participants will understand about diplomatic relations between US-Indonesia and then make you interest to learn more about American things," Abraham said.

 

At the end of the event, Mercy provided information about Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI)  program and also shared her life experiences living and growing up in America.
